Rumpelstilzchen's
Fairy Gold
A Fairy Tale Puppet Opera revealing the untold backstory of The Brother's Grimm most enigmatic character.

Why is Rumpelstilzchen perpetually cast as a villain when the true danger in the classic fairy tale is a greedy king willing to sacrifice anything for wealth and power? What if Rumpelstilzchen was never the villain at all, but a misunderstood and sympathetic figure waiting for centuries to tell us his side of the story?

As Rumpel’s voice emerges, we meet a humorous and lovable trickster who longs to follow in the footsteps of his magical forbears by becoming a Story-Spinner.
With the help of two wisecracking bookworms, a mysterious witch in the woods, and a larger-than-life operatic singing book, Rumpelstilzchen sets off on a quest to discover his true name, challenge the tyranny of a ruthless king, and become the spinner of his own story at last.

Designed for multi-generational audiences, the production blends live music with marionettes, hand puppets, shadow play, immersive animated projections, and a cast of colorful new characters who help Rumpel discover the true meaning and power of stories — and where they come from.

The show explores themes of hope, resilience, greed, power, destiny, courage, and the reclaiming of misjudged histories. At its heart, Rumpelstilzchen’s Fairy Gold asks a simple but urgent question: “If stories come from the world of imagination, what would happen if there weren’t any stories left?”
